When Katie was planning her wedding she decided that instead of buying wedding favors for her guests, she & her future husband, Eric, would donate money to animal charities instead. Katie decided on a horse rescue agency and on the Friends organization. She left a note at each place setting letting her guests know of her intentions:
Thank you for sharing this day with us. In lieu of favors we are making a donation to the following charities:
Standardbred Retirement Foundation (www.adoptahorse.org)
Friends of Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter (www.fosocas.org)
Katie & Eric were able to raise $1000 and donated $500 to each organization! The note from Katie read:
Good Morning
I recently was married and instead of buying favors for each guest, I left a card on the table that said the favors were a donation. I wanted to donate half the money I would have spent on favors to your organization and the other half to a horse rescue agency. I appreciate everything you do for these animals. I adopted a cat from you in August of 2012 named Hazel and she is so spoiled and loved.
