Spay and Neuter
The Friends of Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter do not provide spay and neuter services or financial support for these services to individuals and their household pets. Our work is directed to homeless companion animals. Animals adopted from the Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter or our adoption centers at PetSmart are all spayed and neutered prior to adoption.
Spay and Neutering pets does help to control the animal population as well as reduce homelessness and euthanasia. But more importantly, spay and neuter helps to maintain a healthy pet and avert the risk of certain cancers and unwanted behaviors like spraying, roaming and fighting.
