WHO ARE THE FRIENDS OF THE SOUTHERN OCEAN COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER?

The Friends of the Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter organized in 1990. At that time the only shelter in Ocean County was the Jackson shelter (Northern Ocean County Animal Facility), our first goal was the location of a shelter for southern Ocean County.  This was accomplished with the help of Stafford Township Mayor Carl Block and the Ocean County Board of Freeholders.

Our mission is to prevent cruelty to animals, to promote kindness to animals, and to conduct projects for the benefit and welfare of animals in Ocean County, and to promote shelter pet adoptions through publicity and public relations.

The donations we receive are used to purchase shelter equipment and provide supplementary medical/veterinary care to ensure high standards for the care and housing of pets at the Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter.  We are organized and operated as a non-profit 501 (c)(3) tax deductible charity.

Where is the Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter?  Enter the Stafford Park complex from Route 72 at the Stafford Park Blvd. (old Recovery Road) traffic light.  Continue to second traffic light (Target entrance on the left).  At the light, turn right and continue on Haywood Road, pass motor vehicle inspection station, pass the recycling center, to the Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter at 360 Haywood Road on your right.

Thank You!
